Interior Styling

Interior Styling with Scandinavian Posters

Over the years my personal taste seems to have evolved into a mixture of vintage, scandi & boho, with a feminine twist. I’m a sucker for British period homes with original/restored features.
During the renovation of our home, I’ve enjoyed sourcing homeware from vintage markets, supermarkets & online retailers. Long gone are the days when you had to pay high prices for Art in specialist shops or a huge department store! Styling your home has never been easier.

I believe interior styling looks most stylish when it’s been created from a number of pieces you love. There is no set rule to styling & you can really let your imagination run wild! When choosing prints we simply choose art prints that stood out to us.

All of the big interior designers are Desenio mad & it’s not hard to understand why. Desenio boast a vast array of wall art.  There really is something for everyone!

When ordering art prints in the past (& hands up I’ve been guilty of this on a few occasions), I tend to buy them, and then they are just sat in an envelope whilst I struggle to source frames which are often not quite suitable/ often out of stock. When online shopping with Desenio – suggested Picture frames appear underneath your selection of print(s) so you simply chose the style/colour you want and add to basket. They are just as reasonably priced as the prints too so it’s a no brainer really! They are also really easy to assemble with clips/mount on the wall which is another bonus.

We have chosen to create two ‘print’ gallery walls in the house & there are spaces where we have felt a single statement piece works. For gallery walls – you can choose matching/mismatched frames, have a symmetrical layout, different sized prints or random layout! You can even mix art with typography prints.

I’ll begin by talking you though our upstairs hall. This is currently a large open space painted in a brilliant white. There is no window in the hallway being a middle terrace property so we needed to keep the space light and airy. Everyone who knows us is only too aware that we love nature. So when we saw these prints we couldn’t resist. We loved the idea of an owl on a mountain top spying at his prey in the sky. It’s already such a talking point when guests go upstairs. I find myself just gazing at this gallery wall & so does my husband.

As for the bathroom, we have kept this decor pretty neutral and timeless so we were keen to add some statement pieces. I love this monochrome print of a dancer. I danced when I was younger & there is something about her I just love! We felt she compliments the femininity of the roll top bath and chandelier perfectly.

The lounge is mainly Victorian/traditional – home to vintage Chesterfield suite, a collection of antiques & purpose built alcove units however we wanted to add some more modern but fitting pieces in fear of it looking ‘too’ old fashioned. We chose some vintage style insect prints {which the Victorian’s would have approved of I’m sure} with antique style gold frames and they just work!

Finally in the downstairs hall – a print of my favourite blossom, Magnolia. You would never have guessed looking at my feed right?! I’ve had my eye on this print for a long time & have to say she’s my favourite. In the hall we are opting for traditional Victorian monochrome feel with dark wood furniture & blush pink hues. Even though the Magnolia blossom has disappeared {until next year} I have my own little piece of spring/promise of summer up on the wall all year round.

They have really helped to bring the house alive/make it feel like a home!

As with all collaborations, please be assured I would only chose to work with a company I truly love.
