Date Night

Just downtown NYC for dinner & movies. Only kidding. I’m still in Liv. New Mersey, Speke to be precise on a date night at the New Mersey Retail Complex. I don’t know about you but working in the city through the week, the last place I want to be is in the centre of town, especially at this time of year! Luckily, we are a stone’s throw away from New Mersey Retail Complex, jam packed with shops, eateries & Cineworld!

This week New Mersey invited us for a date night at the complex for dinner and cinema experience and we had such a good time! This kind of date night was a regular Friday evening prior to becoming parents, so it was an extra special treat, bringing back all the feels. It’s so nice to be able to recapture that time the two of us used to spend, back when (it feels like now) we didn’t have a care in the world. Life can sometimes start to feel very child centric! A phone call later and the grandparents kindly agreed to have Ally, so off we went.

There are a wide range of restaurants within the complex, Pizza Hut, Nandos, Wagamamas, Zizzis, TGIs; so there is something for everyone, including lighter options and kids meals. We went all U.S.A & hit TGIs for an American style feast and some delicious cocktails. Totally insta worthy might I add! 😉 The service was fantastic and I can’t wait to go back again already! Although Ally is a little young for this experience we caught ourselves smiling at a family whose daughter was celebrating her 8th birthday with friends. We joked and said that will be us before we know it! The smile on her face when the staff brought her cake out & sung happy birthday!

When we looked at the film choices we had one movie in mind, Bohemian Rhapsody! (Amazing film -we both loved it! Fascinating, energetic, funny, but ultimately quite a tragic story). I’d not come across Cineworld before, as this one has only just opened. I love films and I love the immersive cinema experience. At home, I’m guilty of checking my phone, scrolling through insta, or chatting during a film – much to my OH annoyance as I then ask questions about what’s happening! The cinema gives me the chance to fully switch off. The theatres are quite small and intimate, the seats are super comfy and actually recline – the dream! I skipped dessert so that I could indulge in my weakness – pick ‘n mix. The range was amazing, with lots of veggie (gelatine free) sweeties. We came out of the film on such a high! I forgot about the cinema buzz (probably combined with a little too much sugar)!

If you are local, definitely try out the new complex addition, you really won’t be disappointed! There is no need to book but you can if you wish! Free secure parking if you are driving & plenty of it. There are also numerous buses that run along the main road and stop off at the complex. For the day tripper, there is also a wide arrange of big brand shops like Next, B&Q, M&S etc.

This post is sponsored however as always all views are my own & I wouldn’t work with a company that I didn’t truly love/advertise an experience I wouldn’t pay for myself. Until next time, Lucy X
