AD Last Wednesday evening, I popped on the train to London, met up with my lovely blogger friend Sally, and off we went to the exclusive preview of ASK Italians edible bouquet making masterclass’s launching in the run up to Mother’s Day at ASK Italian in Liverpool, Leeds and London.
We were greeted at the venue with big smiles and a delicious glass of bubbles on arrival. Even on a Wednesday night in ASK there seems to be a real buzz about the place.
I first discovered ASK Liverpool when looking for somewhere to have Dinner before we went to see the Lion King at the Liverpool Empire Theatre. I remember being really impressed with the Vegetarian Options. My Dad isn’t a fan of overly formal and stuffy venues and found the restaurant really friendly and easy going.
On Wednesday we said hello to the fellow attendees and we were led to the flower arranging area. The smell was just amazing – a real taste of what I imagine to be a warm Italian Spring. The experts at Rebel Rebel welcomed us and introduced themselves before talking us through the edible flowers and fresh herbs and how they are used in cooking and the new ASK Spring Menu. Laid out before each of us was a huge bucket of authentic edible blooms – a real feast for the eyes. The smell was just amazing – a real taste of what I imagine to be a warm Italian Spring. Pastel roses, pretty daisies, eucalyptus, herbs and an added extra of deep yellow Mimosa as it was International Women’s Day last week.
I know only too well I don’t tend to come across such insta worthy blooms in Liverpool – like the fancy London Florists you see on Pinterest– these were beautiful – authentic and romantic – Wedding bouquet worthy!
Throughout the Master class the Rebel Rebel team were on hand to answer any questions we had and helped tie and place our bouquets in water until we collected them later on in the evening.
Next, we were seated as a group to #eatlikeanitalian! We took a seat on the group table which looked beautiful – dressed with candles and stunning flowers to continue the theme. For my starter I opted for the Pea and Ricotta Soufflé – a twice baked soufflé on a bed on spinach, in a rich cheese sauce and warm dough sticks to dip – divine! For my main I enjoyed the (light) Purple Basil Pesto Genovese – delicious! I was getting a little full at this point but dessert is a separate tummy! Who could resist a Warm Cookie and Salted Caramel Gelato?
